It is understood that Tween 60 is a lemon-colored to orange oily liquid or semi-gel, with a slight special odor and a slightly bitter taste. Soluble in water, aniline, ethyl acetate and toluene, insoluble in mineral oil and vegetable oil.

1. The production and preparation method of Tween 60 is as follows:

(1) Add 330kg emulsifier S-60 into the reaction kettle, heat and melt , start stirring and add a catalyst amount of sodium hydroxide solution. Evacuate and depressurize and dehydrate, replace the air in the kettle with nitrogen, raise the temperature to 140°C and start to pass 700kg of ethylene oxide, and control the reaction temperature at 160-180°C. After the ethylene oxide is passed to the proportion, the material liquid is poured into the neutralization kettle, and the pH value is adjusted to about 2 with glacial acetic acid. Finally, an appropriate amount of hydrogen peroxide is used to decolorize, and the finished product is cooled and packaged.

(2) Under the catalysis of sodium methoxide (or sodium ethoxide), at 130-170°C, a certain amount of ethylene oxide is passed into Span-60 to undergo an addition reaction to obtain a product.

(3) Put 1 mol of Sipan 60 into the reaction kettle, heat and melt, then start stirring, and add a catalyst amount of sodium hydroxide solution. Dehydrate under vacuum and reduce pressure. After the dehydration is completed, replace the air in the kettle with nitrogen. Raise the temperature to 140°C and start introducing 4 mol of ethylene oxide to carry out the condensation reaction. The condensation temperature is maintained at 160-180°C. Pass the ethylene oxide to the proportion and then cool it. The discharged liquid is poured into the neutralization kettle, neutralized with glacial acetic acid to an acid value of about 2, and then decolorized and dehydrated with hydrogen peroxide. The finished product is packaged.

2. The identification method of Tween 60 is as follows:

Take 5ml of the aqueous solution (1-20) of this product, and add 5ml of sodium hydroxide test solution , boil for a few minutes, let cool, and acidify with dilute hydrochloric acid, it will appear milky white and turbid.

Take 2ml of the aqueous solution (1-20) of this product and dropwise add 0.5ml of bromine test solution. The bromine test solution will not fade.

Take 6ml of this product, add 4ml of water and mix well to form a gel.

Take 10 ml of the aqueous solution (l-0) of this product, add 5 ml of ammonium cobalt thiocyanate solution (take 17.4 g of ammonium thiocyanate and 2.8 g of cobalt nitrate, add water to dissolve into 100 ml), and mix well. Add 5 ml more chloroform and shake to mix. After letting it stand, the chloroform layer will appear blue.
