Neodecanoic acid is a series of branched chains on the alpha carbon atom. The collective name for the isomers of decanoic acid, suitable for bonding rubber to brass-plated, galvanized steel wires, cables and metal wrenches, yellow steel bottom layers of different thicknesses, and various bare steels.

Neodecanoic acid and its derivatives have low freezing points and good oxidation stability and hydrolysis stability. And it has good solubility in various solvents. Its organic solvent solution has low viscosity, good lubricity, anti-rust properties and reduced resistance coefficient. Based on it, it can be formulated into automobile crankcase lubricants, various engine and brake lubricants, metal processing, chain lubricants, etc.
Generally, fatty acids have good lubricating properties, but tend to precipitate at low temperatures. Generally, solvents can improve the fog point, but the added solvents cannot improve the lubrication performance. Surprisingly, it was found that branched chain fatty acids such as neodecanoic acid can improve lubrication properties while having a very low fog point to improve low temperature stability. Neodecanoic acid has a low freezing point, good solubility, and shows good low-temperature effects.
