The main components of styrofoam, the correct way to store styrofoam, how to choose styrofoam

Foam glue is a kind of glue that is often used in decoration nowadays and has good adhesion. So, what are the main ingredients of styrofoam? In daily life, how should we store it after use? When we go to buy styrofoam, how should we choose?

1. The main components of foam rubber

1. The main component of general foam rubber is polyurethane prepolymer, which is composed of polyisocyanate compounds, polyesters or polyethers. Obtained from the reaction of alcohol, catalyst and solvent. When the material is sprayed out of the aerosol can, the foamy polyurethane material will rapidly expand and solidify with the air or moisture in the exposed matrix to form foam.

2. Foam glue is widely used in the construction industry. It is mainly used for filling expansion joints around doors and windows, waterproofing and leakproofing, bonding door panels, and sealing cold storage and refrigerated trucks. Thermal insulation and various heat insulation, sound insulation, shockproof, leakage plugging and insulation places.

3. Foam glue can be sprayed on site to form an overall waterproof layer, which is unmatched by other polymer materials. It not only reduces the amount of maintenance work, but also has the ability to bond It has the advantages of good performance, simple and fast construction, simple structure, good economic benefits and aging resistance.

2. Storage of styrofoam

1. Styrofoam cans The normal operating temperature is +5~+40℃, and the optimal operating temperature is +18~+25℃. Under low temperature conditions, it is recommended to place this product at a constant temperature of +25~+40℃ for 30 minutes before use to ensure its optimal function. The temperature resistance range of the cured foam is -35℃~+100℃.

2. Foam glue is a moisture-curing foam. It should be sprayed on a moist surface when used. The greater the humidity, the faster it will cure. Uncured foam can be cleaned with cleaning agents, while cured foam needs to be removed mechanically (sanding or cutting). The cured foam will turn yellow when exposed to ultraviolet light, and other materials (cement mortar, paint, etc.) can be used to coat the surface of the cured foam. After using the spray gun, please clean it with special cleaning agent immediately. When replacing the material tank, first shake the new tank well (shake it at least 30 times), remove the empty tank, and quickly replace the new material tank with the new one to prevent the spray gun connection port from solidifying. The flow control valve and trigger of the spray gun can control the foam flow rate. After gluing stops, clean the spray gun with cleaning agent and then close the flow valve clockwise.

3. Uncured foam is sticky to skin and clothes. Please do not touch skin and clothes when using it. There is a pressure of 5-6kg/cm² (25℃) in the styrofoam tank. The temperature should not exceed 50℃ during storage and transportation to prevent the risk of tank explosion. Styrofoam cans should be kept away from direct sunlight and children are not allowed to play with them. Empty cans after use, especially partially unused styrofoam cans, should not be thrown around. Burning or puncturing empty cans is prohibited. Keep away from open flames and do not come into contact with flammable and explosive items. The construction site should have ventilation conditions. Construction workers should wear gloves, protective clothing and goggles during construction, and do not smoke. If the foam touches your eyes, please rinse with clean water before going to the hospital for medical treatment; if it gets on your hands, rinse with detergent and clean water.

Three, Selection of styrofoam

1. Look at the color: high quality The styrofoam is milky white after being punched out. The color is black, gray or particularly yellow which is not good (indicating that it is made of cheap and inferior quality raw materials to reduce costs).

2. Look at the thickness: When the foam glue is released, the foam should not be too thin or too thin.It can be too thick; if it is too thin, the foam will collapse; if the foam is too thick, it will dry out and shrink easily.

3. Look at the cells: After the foam glue has solidified, cut the foam and look at the cells. The cells are uniform and dense for good foaming. If the cells are large, it means it is good for foaming. If the density is poor, it is not good (only with high density can the waterproof, sound insulation, elastic hardness and other properties of the foam rubber be guaranteed).

5. Look at the foaming size: good foam has a large foaming volume, and the foam is full and round; poor foaming rubber has a small foaming volume and appears collapsed.

6. Look at the adhesion: good foam has strong adhesion, while poor foam has poor adhesion, which will cause the surface of the building to bond with the aluminum alloy or door cover. Not strong or even sticky.
