Features

Dispex® AA4040 NS formulation is an ideal dispersant for various waterborne coatings

Dispex® AA 4040 NS may be used as supplied. The neutralizing base used with acrylic polymers can significantly affect the properties of the final coating. Dispex® AA4040 NS releases ammonia during the drying process, so it has no small impact on the water and alkali resistance of the dry film.

Use of Dispex® AA4040 NS should be limited to pH 9.0 at temperatures below 70°C for potential loss of volatile ammonia .

With inorganic dispersants, such as polyphosphate products, Dispex based on organic polymers ® AA4040 NS (based on pigment weight) improves pigment dispersion and storage stability of formulated coatings. As shown in the graph below, there was little or no adverse reaction to high temperature or changes in pH, and these examples show an accelerating effect.

Adding Dispex® AA4040NS It is recommended to add pigment in heavy stirring water containing dispersant, while Instead of adding a dispersant to the pigment paste. Generally speaking, the pH of the final preparation should be in the 8.5 region to obtain the best dispersion efficiency.

The optimal amount of dispersant needed to form a stable dispersion depends largely on the pigment chemical properties, particle surface and shape. The polymer base of the latex also plays a very important role in the stability equation. In general, a severe excess may deteriorate coating properties (such as water resistance) and create an economical disadvantage. Likewise, insufficient dispersants can lead to unstable storage.

Like other dispersants, batch variation due to specific pigment or latex type requirements , it is recommended that the formulation machine use 1.5-2.0 times the determined optimal dispersant level.
