Evonik launches new INFINAM® TPA elastomer powder material for SLS 3D printing technology

● Optimize and upgrade SLS technology and launch INFINAM® TPA 4006 P

● Develop new consumer product application areas

● Expand existing elastomer material product range

Evonik will launch new INFINAM® TPA 4006 for all types of open source SLS 3D printers P ultrafine powder, thereby expanding its product range of elastomeric materials for powder bed fusion 3D printing technology. The new flexible material will be exhibited at the Formnext exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany, from November 7 to 10, 2023.

INFINAM® TPA 4006 P is a PA12 elastomer composed of polyamide 12 segments and softening segments. It behaves like rubber and has excellent impact resistance and rebound properties.

The new 3D printing elastomer also offers excellent process stability and powder flow, making it suitable for all SLS technologies currently on the market. Not only that, this new ultra-fine powder material can be used in a ratio of 50% new powder and 50% recycled powder, and can be recycled repeatedly.

Excellent resilience and can be used in the footwear industry

Arnim, Director of Powder Bed Fusion Technology at Evonik Kraatz said: "Elastomer-based 3D printing applications play a vital role in the field of additive manufacturing. They give unlimited design possibilities for limited or highly customized products, perfectly embodying the significance of 3D printing technology. By providing With new 3D printing materials, we will help customers make full use of material properties and explore and expand new application areas."

Using INFINAM® TPA 4006 P-printed 3D parts have good surface resolution and precise detail features, and are still stable and durable in the temperature range of -40°C to 90°C. Not only that, this powder is also very suitable for manufacturing functional 3D high-tech plastic components, both for prototypes and series products. For decades, TPA has been the raw material of choice for consumer products such as footwear.

Evonik’s range of elastic 3D printing materials includes two powders for powder bed fusion 3D printing technology:

Thermoplastic Amide INFINAM® TPA

Thermoplastic copolyester INFINAM® TPC

At the same time, Evonik will also launch INFINAM® FL. The product is a rubber-like photopolymer resin for light-cured 3D printing, completing the current portfolio of elastomeric materials used in industrial 3D printing.

Promote3Dlarge-scale development of printing

Evonik's 3D printing business falls within the group's innovative growth area for additive manufacturing. The strategic focus in this area is to develop and manufacture industrial-grade, ready-to-use high-performance materials for all major polymer-based 3D printing technologies. Evonik will therefore continue to promote the large-scale development of 3D printing as an industrial manufacturing technology throughout the entire value chain.
