join Methods and Processing Instructions
for best performance, wetting and dispersing agent should be added to the grinding base.
Resin and solvent should be pre-mixed, then slowly add additives under stirring until Dissolve evenly. Pigments are added after additives are put in. To remedy problematic paints during production, disperbyk-163, disperbyk-164 and disperbyk-167 are best used as post additions and added slowly under high shear. In the baking system, byk-331 should be added to improve leveling and prevent Bernard swirl.
apply Domain
Recommended: industrial coatings, automotive refinishing paints, paints for automotive production lines (oem), Coil Coating,
Applicable: wood coatings, architectural coatings, pigment concentrates
Features
Byk161 high-molecular-weight additive deflocculates pigments through steric hindrance. They provide the same charge to different pigments, thus avoiding possible co-flocculation of differently charged pigments. Due to the small particle size of the deflocculated pigments, high gloss can be obtained and color intensity can be improved. In addition, the transparency of transparent pigments and the hiding power of opaque pigments are increased. These products reduce viscosity, thereby improving leveling, and allow higher pigment levels.
Features and advantages
In terms of product use, disperbyk-161 is an optimized product of disperbyk-160 for easy operation , its molecular weight distribution, polarity and effectiveness are very similar to disperserbyk-160.
