Product Overview
Thickening and rheology control additives
Rheovis® AS 1130 is a derivative product of high-efficiency rheology control thickeners, suitable for various water-based coating systems.
Chemical Properties
Water-based acrylic copolymer emulsion
It achieves the effect of rheological control through the strong swelling of high molecular weight polymer in alkaline aqueous solution.

Application
Relex® AS 1130 is an ideal rheology control additive for waterborne coatings. Adding it to the paint can improve the thixotropic properties of the paint, so that the paint will not produce stringing phenomenon during spraying at different speeds. This product is especially suitable for airless spraying.
BASF also offers Rheovis® HS 1332, Rheovis® HS 1212 and Rheovis® HS 1152 rheology control additives with more Newtonian fluid properties.
Relux® AS 1130 works best in a pH range of 7.5-10.5.
Since Relux® AS 1130 is a chemically synthesized derivative, microbes are much less susceptible to them than cellulose derivatives. Therefore, the dosage of fungicides can be reduced in the formula, and the application range is wider.
Rheology modifiers should be added in the last step of paint production, not during pigment milling, to avoid irreversible damage to the thixotropic properties of the paint system under high shear stress. Since Relux® AS 1130 is a liquid, post-dosing is very convenient. At the same time, it is also beneficial to adjust the viscosity of each batch of paint to meet the needs of different products.
With efficient mixing equipment, Relux® AS 1130 can be poured directly into the mixture. During this process, the pH value is always below 7.5, and then alkaline substances, amines or other bases are added to adjust the pH value to ensure the thickening effect. If a volatile base (such as ammonia) is used as a neutralizer, the water resistance of the dry film can be improved.
