Features/Applications
It is recommended to mix Bayhydrol® A2427 with Bayhydur® 2487/1 and other anionic hydrophilic modified polyisocyanates to make transparent clearcoats, colored primers and topcoats. Topcoats made of Bayhydrol® A2427 and Bayhydur® XP 2487/1 have good chemical resistance, especially to bleaching solutions. Bayhydrol® A2427 prepares hard, scratch-resistant one-component coatings for polystyrene and ABS substrates. Such coatings have high alcohol and oil resistance, especially in one-component metal one-coat systems.

Another advantage of Bayhydrol® A2427 is its good resistance to yellowing. Bayhydrol® A2427 can be mixed with polyurethane dispersions to formulate one-component and two-component formulations. The product can also be used in combination with water-based light-curable binders. In many cases, this combination increases the hardness of the formulation, thereby improving its chemical resistance. But note that compatibility must be pre-tested. The formulated two-component coating has a maximum pot life of 4 hours due to its high reactivity. Therefore, the use of two-component spray equipment is recommended, especially when using pigmented formulations. Coating equipment can be cleaned with water, water/propanol mixtures, water/ethanol mixtures (specially with the addition of 0.5 to 5% N,N-dimethylaminoethanol) or alkaline cleaners.
