Solubility/Dilution
Bayhydur® VP LS 2150 BA can be completely dissolved/diluted in compounds such as butyl glycol acetate and butyl diethylene glycol acetate or aromatic compounds without adding polar solvents such as esters, ketones and ether esters . The product can be diluted to a stable solution with a minimum solids content of 20%, e.g. with xylene, toluene or higher boiling aromatic compounds such as naphtha No. 100 solvent or aromatic blends. However, it is recommended to test the storage stability of the solution. If the diluted solution is to be stored for a long period of time, do not add aliphatic (gasoline) solvents during dilution. However, Bayhydur® VP LS 2150 BA is compatible with aliphatic compounds and can be added to coatings containing aliphatic solvents. Polyurethane grade solvents should be used (less than 0.05 % water). The solvent must not contain reactive groups such as hydroxyl or amine groups.
Compatibility
Generally, Bayhydur® VP LS 2150BA can be mixed with Desmodur®, Bayhydur® and Bayhydrol® following products. However, the entire formulation must be tested for compatibility (including solids content, co-solvent content, co-solvent type). Desmodur® N3300, N3600, Bayhydur® 3100, most Bayhydrol® products such as Bayhydrol® VP LS 2054, VP LS 2058, VP LS 2231, A 145, XP 2470 and XP 2469.
Features/Applications
Within the Bayhydrol® product range, Bayhydur® VP LS 2150 is primarily used as a co-reactant for aqueous polyol binders. Due to its hydrophilic nature, Bayhydur® VP LS 2150 easily emulsifies in aqueous phases. The addition of Bayhydur® VP LS 2150 BA improves the properties of waterborne two-component polyurethane coatings (such as chemical and solvent resistance).
