Toluene diisocyanate manufacturer Knowledge Covestro Desmodur DN water-based solvent-free polyisocyanates

Covestro Desmodur DN water-based solvent-free polyisocyanates

Type

Low volatility aliphatic polyisocyanate

Form of Supply

Solvent-free light yellow medium viscosity liquid

Purpose

Desmodur DN is a water-emulsified solvent-free polyisocyanate, it can be used as a lot of mediumPHCrosslinking agent for polymer emulsions such as polyurethane, polyvinyl acetate, acrylic and synthetic rubber emulsions. This crosslinking improves the adhesive’s resistance to heat, water, plasticizers and solvents

apply
In order to ensure that Desmodur DN can be fully dispersed in the adhesive, mechanical way to stir. Manual stirring is not enough to form a homogeneous solution, especially when the viscosity of the binder dispersion is low, thorough stirring is especially important. Insufficient stirring is easy to form gel particles in the adhesive. After adding Desmodur DN, the two-component adhesive must be used up within its pot life. The length of the pot life is not only related to the content of the polymer, but also related to other components (such as resins, thickeners, plasticizers, etc.). After the pot life (usually a few hours), the gel state does not always appear. It can be reflected by measuring its heat resistance and water resistance. The amount of Desmodor DN added is 3%-10% of 100 parts by weight of the adhesive dispersion (polymer content is 40%-60%).

Packaging
60 kg metal container

Storage
Store in sealed original packaging at 10-25℃, stable for 6 months. This product is very sensitive to moisture and reacts with water to form carbon dioxide and insoluble urea. Therefore, the packaging container must be kept sealed at all times. Avoid reaction with humidity, solvents and moisture in wet containers. Carbon dioxide produced increases the pressure and thus increases the danger.

Disposal
Residues should be incinerated according to local regulations. Special attention should be paid to uncrosslinked residues and EWC number NO.080406 should be attached. The residue after cross-linking is marked NO.080102.

Security
Do not remove hazard labels until contamination is removed. Polyisocyanate products require special attention to the safety of their handling. Highly sensitive tests on guinea pigs show that the product is prone to skin allergies. However, the long-term experience of using aliphatic polyepicyanates and the test results under the conditions of use indicate that the risk of skin sensitization should be small. The operating safety instructions for this product should be observed. Its content involves labeling, transportation, storage, operation, product safety and ecology, etc.
