As the automotive industry continues to evolve, manufacturers are also working to improve the comfort, safety and performance of their products. Although the gutter is small, it plays a vital role in the function of the entire vehicle.
Recently, thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) materials have undergone significant changes in gutter applications in the automotive industry. TPE is a class of versatile polymers known for their exceptional elasticity, durability and resistance to environmental factors, making them ideal for automotive sealing applications.
As the world’s leading provider of TPE material solutions, KRAIBURG TPE is honored to offer our innovative TPE
Materials, making significant contributions to sink gutters and even the automotive industry.
Enhancing automotive excellence
KRAIBURG TPE’s THERMOLAST® R RC/UV/AP series contains 15-40% (according to hardness) post-consumer recycled content, is UV resistant and has encapsulation properties for PP. It is a Materials made specifically for the Asia Pacific region. These compounds are suitable for automotive exterior applications and are available in black color.
The water trough made of TPE has excellent sealing performance, which can effectively prevent water and impurities from damaging important engine components, while ensuring the safety of drivers and passengers. This feature is especially critical in adverse weather conditions, such as heavy rain or snow, where a strong seal will make a big difference.
Material Advantages
This series has excellent encapsulation properties with PP, ensuring reliability and durability in various automotive components. Their low-density properties provide lightweight solutions for the automotive industry. In addition, temperature stability up to 90°C makes them resilient in various climate conditions, providing necessary protection for the car’s exterior.
These weather-resistant materials further enhance their suitability for automotive exterior applications. Additionally, their recycled-specific raw materials promote sustainable manufacturing practices. Through the injection molding process, these materials are suitable for use in water deflectors, roof rack seals, window encapsulation, rain gutters and other components on the exterior of the vehicle, including applications related to the electric vehicle sector and chassis applications.
TPE succeeds in sustainable development
In addition to downspout applications, recent sustainable innovations developed by KRAIBURG TPE
The TPE range includes specialized material solutions for automotive, everyday consumer goods, consumer electronics, wearables and industrial applications, containing up to 48% post-consumer recycled content (PCR) and up to 50% post-industrial recycled content
(PIR). Comply with multiple global standards such as FDA raw material compliance, RoHS and REACH SVHC requirements. KRAIBURG TPE can provide customers with services such as product carbon footprint value.
