Plastics (OBP for short) cooperation in the field has been further expanded. Following the successful cooperation between the two parties in 2021 to develop the first consumer electronics product made of recycled ocean plastic – the Microsoft Ocean Plastic Mouse, SABIC and Microsoft recently jointly launched the first Surface series connection device made of ocean recycled plastic (OBP) and power supply housing, containing 20% ocean-recycled plastic.

Certified recycled LEXAN™ flame retardant polycarbonate resin from the ELECTRONICS product portfolio. As SABIC
Part of the TRUCIRCLE™ product portfolio, this material contains 20% ocean-recycled plastic, is produced using a mass-balanced approach, is ISCC PLUS certified and meets internationally recognized circular traceability standards.
The recycled content in LEXAN’s flame-retardant polycarbonate materials comes from plastics salvaged from the ocean and waterways that drain into the ocean, or from plastics that wash ashore. SABIC uses advanced recycling technology to develop prototype resins that meet Microsoft’s strict quality standards. The performance of LEXAN polycarbonate is comparable to that of virgin plastics and meets UL94
V0 flame retardant grade standard, with safety and reliability.
