BYK announces new management team

Specialty chemicals group Altana recently announced management personnel changes for BYK Chemicals, its largest division. As of October 1, 2023, BYK Chief Technology Officer Jörg
Dr. Hinnerwisch will succeed Tammo
Dr. Boinowitz serves as President of BYK Chemicals. In taking on this new role, Dr. Hinnerwisch will also join the ALTANA Group’s executive management team. Dr. Boinowitz began serving as a member of the ALTANA Group’s Management Board at the beginning of this year and will henceforth fully focus on this position. Dr. Boinowitz, who holds a PhD in chemistry, joined Altana in early 2021 as President of BYK Chemicals. Prior to this, he had more than 25 years of experience in the specialty chemicals industry, mainly focusing on customers, technology and innovation.

Dr. Jörg Hinnerwisch

Dr. Hinnerwisch’s experience with the ALTANA Group goes back 16 years. In 2007, Dr. Hinnerwisch, who holds a PhD in Biochemistry and a minor in Business Administration, started his career at the innovation headquarters of the ALTANA Group. Three years later, he moved to ELANTAS as head of the product group Flexible Electrical Insulation Materials. In 2017, he became the head of the wetting and dispersing agent technology group of BYK’s R&D department.

Dr. Stefan Moessmer

Meanwhile, as of October 1, 2023, Dr. Stefan Moessmer (54
year-old) will serve as President of Marketing and Commercial Affairs of BYK. This newly created position is aimed at the overall integration of customer and market-oriented activities.

Stefan
Dr. Moessmer holds a PhD in chemistry. He joined BYK in 2000 and has worked in various R&D departments. In 2006, Dr. Moessmer assumed the role of Head of the Wetting and Dispersing Agents Product Group. In 2010, he took full responsibility for product group management. Since 2013, Dr. Moessmer has been responsible for the coating additives business and has doubled sales during his tenure.
