● The midsole is applied to the SS23 Salomon Index.02 product series of Salomon, the global leading outdoor sports brand
● Footwear applications using the first supercritical fluid (SCF) direct-injection foaming technology produced by Elastollan
February 10, 2023——
Salomon, a leading global professional outdoor sports brand, launched the Salomon Index.02 series of products, the midsole of which is made of BASF’s thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) Elastollan® using supercritical fluid (SCF) foaming technology.
SCF foaming technology can make the gas disperse evenly, produce a uniform fine-pore structure foam, and can obviously improve the mechanical properties and low density.
Since the foaming process does not use crosslinkers or chemical blowing agents, the midsole can be recycled after use. At the same time, the production process requires less energy, helping to reduce overall energy consumption. In addition, the Elastollan used in Salomon Index.02 does not contain plasticizers.
Salomon footwear materials engineer Renaud Guillot said: “With Elastollan
With supercritical fluid foaming technology, the durability and stability of the produced foam can be improved. This takes the Salomon Index.02 sneaker to a new level of standard, helping runners perform at their ideal level. This powerful combination helps Salomon achieve its mission of creating high-performance and sustainable footwear. ”
Zhao Minli, Vice President of Consumer Goods, Performance Materials Division, BASF Asia Pacific, said: “Elastollan, as a complete material solution, provides outstanding performance in footwear applications, such as high mechanical strength and durable comfort. Through SCF foaming technology, we are now offering sports brands Provides a new level of cushioning performance
– This is a revolutionary victory for the footwear industry and sustainable development. ”
The Salomon Index.02 collection will be available on Salomon.com from February 2023.
