According to information from the Kaifeng Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau, Henan Hengshuo Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd.’s annual 200,000-ton ecological and environmentally friendly new material project is undergoing an environmental impact assessment announcement. According to the public information, this is an expansion project with a total investment of 3.82 billion, using virgin biodegradable plastic PLA to produce plastic products, without using waste plastics and recycled plastics as raw materials.
In recent years, my country’s “plastic restriction” policy has experienced a transformation from “restriction” to “ban” and “replacement”, that is, from restricting single-use plastics to banning traditional single-use plastics and replacing them with new plastics. The “14th Five-Year Plan” Action Plan for Plastic Pollution Control proposes to promote the orderly development of the biodegradable plastic industry. Some analysts believe that among biodegradable plastics, polylactic acid (PLA) is currently considered the main alternative product to solve the “white pollution” of plastic products. It is currently the most industrialized biodegradable material. As relevant policies continue to advance, the penetration rate of biodegradable plastics is expected to continue to increase, and demand is expected to grow rapidly.
