Mitsubishi Chemical Group is pleased to announce that Pixie Dust Technologies’ “iwasemi RC-α” transparent acoustic panels feature Mitsubishi Chemical’s DURABIO™, a plant-derived bio-based engineering plastic. iwasemi RC-α will be launched in May 2023.
DURABIO™ is a bio-based engineering plastic made from isosorbide, a renewable plant-derived raw material. DURABIO™ helps reduce the consumption of petroleum, a limited non-renewable resource, and also helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions because the plants used as its raw material absorb carbon dioxide during their growth. DURABIO™ has excellent impact resistance, scratch resistance and transparency, and is widely used in automotive interior and exterior parts, optical and electronic equipment components, and daily necessities.
iwasemi RC-α is a novel transparent sound-absorbing panel that works like tiles taped to glass in conference rooms and workspaces. By using the excellent transparency
DURABIO™, iwasemi RC-α provides an excellent design sense “in harmony with glass” while using plant-derived materials.
