Recently, Sinopec’s Ministry of Science and Technology organized a launch meeting for a major scientific and technological project in Yueyang called “Key Technology Research and Development and Industrial Demonstration of High-End Polyamide Material Preparation”, clarifying “the development of a series of special polyamide product synthesis and processing application technologies. The overall research goal is "application in aerospace, electronic appliances, oil field downhole parts, high barrier films and other fields."

The project is led by the project leader, Baling Petrochemical, with participation from 9 units including the Shanghai Petrochemical Research Institute, Sinopec Academy of Petrochemical Sciences, and Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry, and collaboration from 6 universities, with a total of more than 190 team members.

Baling Petrochemical established a polyamide department (Hunan Polyamide Division of Sinopec Synthetic Fiber Technology Center), set up an R&D center, a marketing center and a polyamide device to promote the organic integration of production, marketing and research. The project leader unit and each member unit of the project signed a mutual confidentiality agreement to carry out the work. Establish a technical committee and a coordination office, which are responsible for reviewing and adjusting technical routes, guiding technical difficulties, demonstrating major technical plans and decisions, and assisting the project leader in project organization planning, comprehensive coordination, promotion of implementation, guidance, and organization of discussions.
