Covestro Bayhydrol A 2470 Waterborne Acrylic Dispersion High Gloss High Fullness Excellent Chemical and Weather Resistance

Bayhydrol® A2470 can be mixed with aliphatic polyisocyanate to make a high-gloss topcoat, which can be dried at room temperature or force-dried (e.g. at 80°C conditions). The cured paint film has high hardness and excellent solvent resistance, water resistance and weather resistance. Applying Bayhydrol® A2470 Clearcoat directly to wooden substrates will cause discoloration. In the case of correct formulation, such as: mixed with Bayhydur® 304 (NCO/OH ratio 1.5:1), the pot life is about 4 hours. Bayhydrol® A2470 has good pigment wetting and high shear stability. Experiments have shown that ball mills are suitable as grinding equipment. Only pigments and fillers with very small water-soluble components can be used. Considering the wide variety of pigments and fillers available, a compatibility test should be carried out before use. When Bayhydur or Desmodur is mixed with the base, a thickener must be added to ensure good shear. The formulation of Bayhydrol® A2470 proved to be suitable for the addition of about 0.4% Borchigen® PW25 (based on solid binder). Additions (eg Byk® 380) improve leveling and substrate wetting. Experiments have shown that Byk® 011 is a suitable defoamer. Coating and dispensing equipment can be cleaned with water, alkaline cleaners, or isopropanol.

General Information: Cooling to -18°C for a short period of time will normally not damage this product, but the viscosity may be greatly reduced. Freezing for long periods of time can seriously damage the product. Long-term storage at higher temperature will lead to a decrease in viscosity or an increase in average particle size, which may lead to precipitation or coagulation. The viscosity of this product depends mainly on the pH value. The pH may decrease during storage, resulting in a decrease in viscosity. The viscosity can be restored to its original value by adding a small amount of 10% aqueous solution of dimethylethanolamine. Contamination with certain bacteria, molds or algae can render the product unusable.

Storage Time
Covestro declares that, provided that the product has been stored in full compliance with the requirements set out in the "Storage" clause above and has been properly handled, the product has been shipped from the date of shipment stated on the transport document Within 6 months of compliance with the specifications or characteristic values ​​stated in the "Specification or characteristic values" clause above, as applicable. If a product exceeds the above 6-month period, it does not mean that it no longer conforms to the values ​​set forth in the specifications or characteristic values.
