Solubility/Dilution
Desmodur® Z4470 BA can use polar solvent esters, ketones and ether esters such as butyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone, 1-propylene glycol methyl ether acetate-2; and use aromatic hydrocarbons Make a dilution. Generally, it has good compatibility with the solvents listed above, but the storage stability of the prepared solution still needs to be tested. Use only urethane grade solvents (less than 0.05% water, solvents that do not contain reactive groups like hydroxyl and amino groups).
Stable solutions with a minimum solids content of 20% can be prepared by diluting Desmodur® Z4470 BA with xylene, toluene or high boiling aromatic compounds such as naphtha 100 or aromatic mixtures. If it is required to extend the storage stability period of the diluted solution, aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents should not be added. However, Desmodur® Z4470 BA aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent has certain compatibility, so it can be added to the coating system containing aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent.
Compatibility
In general, Desmodur® Z 4470BA can be mixed with the following products: aliphatic polyisocyanate such as Desmodur N100, N75, N3200, N3300, N3400 and N3600; aromatic polyisocyanate such as Desmodur® L, HL and IL; polyester polyols such as Desmophen® 670; polyacrylates such as Desmophen® A products; alkyd resins such as Alkydal® F48. However, compatibility must be tested before mixing.
Features/Applications
Desmodur® Z4470 BA is mainly used as a curing agent in light-fast two-component polyurethane coatings. It has good chemical resistance and weather resistance, very good gloss retention and Excellent mechanical properties. Due to its higher hardness it is often blended with Desmodur® N grades. Coreactants are elastic polyacrylate polyols such as Desmophen® A565 and A575 and polyester polyols such as Desmophen® 670. Two-component coatings based on Desmodur® Z4470 BA are mainly used in OEM and refinish automotive coatings. Due to its very good physical drying properties, Desmodur® Z4470 BA is also used as an auxiliary resin in alkyd spray coatings to accelerate drying. The main applications of this coating are in automotive refinish and industrial paints.
