Product Introduction
Coscat 8330R catalyst is a proprietary organometallic compound specifically developed to replace benchmark performance mercury-based catalysts in two-component polyurethane systems.
Coscat 8330R catalyst is recommended for use in polyurethane elastomer systems that typically require lead, mercury or tin catalysts as the sole or co-catalyst. Specific advantages of Coscat 8330R include high selectivity for polyol-isocyanate reactions, avoidance of bubble generation at low levels of bubbles; excellent synergy with organomercury catalysts and urethanes currently catalyzed with other organometallic or amines Improved moisture aging performance in the system.

The figure below shows gel time images tested in polyurethane grade castor oil (DB® Oil, Vertellus Specialty Materials) and 1000MW polyether diol crosslinked with polymeric MDI. Gel time was also evaluated in a 1500MW polyether triol cross-linked with HDI-trimer; the isocyanate index of all samples was 1.05:1.0 (NCO:OH), Coscat 8330R was added at 0.1% of the total sample weight.
