Solubility/Dilution
Desmodur® BL 1265 MPA/X generally has good miscibility with the following solvents, but the storage stability of the prepared solution must be tested. Desmodur® BL 1265 MPA/X can be diluted with ethers, esters, ketones, aromatic solvents and turpentine. It has only limited solubility in aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents. Solvents of polyurethane grade (less than 0.05 % water) should be used. These solvents should not contain reactive groups like hydroxyl and amino groups.
Compatibility
In equivalence ratio (NCO/OH=1.0), Desmodur® BL 1265 MPA/X can generally be combined with Desmophen® 650, 651, 670, 680, 690, 800, 850, 1100, 1150, 1200, 1300, RD 181 , A 365 and 1380 BT are miscible. It can also be mixed with various plasticizers and epoxy resins such as Laromin® C 260 (BASF), but the compatibility of the resulting mixture must be tested.
Miscible with Desmodur BL 1100 and BL 1190, easily cloudy, not always infinitely compatible.
Features/Applications
When used to crosslink with polyols, Desmodur® BL 1265 MPA/X produces paint films with high hardness and good resistance to deformation, impact and chemicals. This product can be used for inside pipe coatings, can coatings and anti-stone chip primer surfacer. It can also be used in topcoat coatings that do not require high weather resistance.
Desmodur® BL 1265 MPA/X can also be used as an additive to improve the flexibility, abrasion resistance, impact resistance or chemical resistance of paint films, such as coil coating primers, industrial decorative primers and anti-stone chipping primers Paint two coats. Another special application is in combination with Desmodur BL 1100 and Laromin C 260 for the preparation of anti-stone chip primer surfacers for automobiles. Adding 10-40% (BL 1265 : BL 1100, based on solids) can increase the hardness of the paint film and improve the low temperature crack resistance.
When Desmodur® BL 1265 MPA/X is mixed with Desmophen® series products at NCO/OH=1, the best paint film can be obtained. The amount of Laromin C 260 to be added should be determined empirically, the optimal amount is about 13%wt, calculated based on the amount of Desmodur® BL 1265 MPA/X. One-component systems based on Desmodur® BL 1265 MPA/X (with Desmophen or Laromin C 260) are stable at room temperature and 40°C. Desmodur® BL 1265 MPA/X can be mixed with pigments, fillers and auxiliaries using standard equipment. The dispersion temperature should not exceed 70°C. Storage stability is limited at temperatures above 80°C even with brief exposures above 80°C. The crosslinking temperature depends on the baking time and co-reactants. Baking conditions range from about 30 minutes at 150°C to typical baking conditions for coil coatings.
Save
Desmodur® BL 1265 MPA/X should be stored at room temperature in its airtight original container. Under these conditions, the shelf life of this product is at least 6 months.
Safety: Hazard Identification
