During CHINAPLAS, BASF will showcase the overall solution shoe concept jointly created with Taiwan’s cutting-edge footwear manufacturer and global sports and leisure shoe brand manufacturer Baocheng Group (hereinafter referred to as “Baocheng”) to meet the increasingly A growing footwear trend that uses sustainable materials and innovative ways to reduce environmental impact.

Andy Bao, Senior Vice President, Performance Materials Asia Pacific, BASF
Postlethwaite, said: “The close collaboration between BASF and Pouchen is key to the success of the total solution shoe concept. Leveraging our strengths will speed up the design and development process of sustainable footwear that is stylish, comfortable and functional.”

BASF Total Solutions Footwear is manufactured entirely from BASF’s innovative and high-performance material solutions:

– Eco-friendly Haptex® is used for the upper
Synthetic Leather Solutions. It is also the only polyurethane (PU) solution that is manufactured without the use of organic solvents and also has an embossing effect.

– The boot’s upper is made of Freeflex™, a 100% recycled thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) fiber. The fiber is easily combined with TPU
Thin films combine for seamless technology. Freeflex also provides ideal feel and excellent stretch. In addition, it has outstanding wear resistance.

– The midsole is made of Ultrasint® TPU 88A, a 100% recycled 3D
Printing materials have high flexibility in product design and can adjust excellent performance through lattice design. Ultrasint TPU 88A
Ideal for producing parts requiring shock absorption, energy return and flexibility. Its superior hydrolysis and abrasion resistance characteristics also meet the mechanical performance requirements of midsoles.

– Outsole is made of bio-based thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) Elastollan® N65A12PU
production. The material has outstanding wear resistance. Since biobased products are made from renewable resources, they don’t deplete natural resources like fossil fuels.

The concept shoe was developed using the resources of BASF’s Footwear Innovation Center, which is currently located at BASF’s Changhua site in Taiwan.

Paul added: “We help our partners in the Rubaocheng Group to make progress in the footwear market by providing them with advanced technologies and high-performance materials used in the Footwear Innovation Center.”

BASF’s Footwear Innovation Center houses new footwear manufacturing technologies to optimize manufacturing processes and increase efficiency. For example, a biomechanics lab can test and refine material innovations in a fraction of the time.
