On November 22, 2023, Röhm’s Acrylic Products business unit and SABIC’s Functional Profiles business unit will merge to form Polyvantis, a member of the acrylic and polycarbonate film and sheet industry. New global players.
Röhm announced that the new company will offer products in films, sheets, tubes and rods and will serve multiple sectors including building and construction, transport and aerospace, electrical and electronics, automotive and home and garden.
Polyvantis has global organizational sales of approximately $700 million and will have approximately 1,500 employees and 16 manufacturing sites in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa.
In December 2022, Röhm signed an agreement to acquire SABIC’s functional profiles business (including polycarbonate film and sheet products). Subject to customary regulatory approvals, the spin-off of Röhm’s Acrylic Products business and SABIC’s Performance Profiles business and the transaction with SABIC are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2024.
Polyvantis has signed long-term licensing agreements with Röhm and SABIC for the brands in their respective market segments. The Plexiglas/acrylic resin molding compounds business will remain at Röhm, while the polycarbonate Lexan resin business will remain at SABIC.
