my country’s isoprene production has grown steadily and exports have increased significantly
Isoprene is also called 2-methyl-1,3-butadiene, and its chemical formula is C5H8. It mostly appears as a colorless liquid with a pungent odor at normal temperatures and pressures. Isoprene is insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as ether and ethanol. Isoprene is volatile and toxic, and will cause certain harm when in contact with the human body. After years of development, isoprene preparation technology has matured and can be roughly divided into ether aldehyde method, propylene dimerization method, isopentene dehydrogenation method, extraction method, acetone-acetylene method, isobutylene-formaldehyde method, etc.
From the upstream of the industrial chain, the main raw materials for isoprene include oil, natural gas, etc. Among them, petroleum is the main raw material. Petroleum is widely used in construction, energy, transportation, chemical industry, plastics, coatings, pesticides and other fields. Driven by downstream market demand, my country’s oil companies have gradually expanded their production scale and increased their output. According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, my country’s crude oil production in 2022 will be 204.67 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.86%.
As an organic compound, isoprene is mostly used in the production of SIS, curing agents, isoprene rubber, isoprene latex and other products. It is widely used in adhesives, rubber, pesticides, fine chemicals, spices, tires, medicine and other fields. . Currently, SIS (styrene-isoprene-styrene) is the largest application field of isoprene, accounting for 65.87%; followed by isoprene rubber, accounting for 21.08%.
In the field of fine chemicals, isoprene can react with other compounds to produce a variety of polymer compounds. For example, isoprene can copolymerize with styrene to form SIS, and can also react with acrylate to form isoprene acrylate. Alkyl esters, etc. In the field of rubber, isoprene, as an important raw material for synthetic rubber, can copolymerize with a variety of rubber raw materials to form various rubber polymers with excellent comprehensive properties. Overall, my country’s isoprene consumer market is relatively broad.
According to the “2023-2028 Isoprene Industry Venture Capital Situation and Investment and Financing Strategy Guidelines Report” released by the Industrial Research Center , driven by downstream market demand, my country’s isoprene production capacity has gradually expanded, and output has grown steadily. From 2018 to 2022, my country’s isoprene production increased from 192,400 tons to 302,900 tons, with an average annual compound growth rate of 12.01%.
From the perspective of import and export, my country’s isoprene export volume has increased significantly due to strong demand in foreign markets. According to data released by the General Administration of Customs, in 2022, my country’s isoprene export volume was 40,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 394.03%; the export value was 497 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 442.11%.
Industry analysts said that my country’s larger isoprene companies mainly include Shanghai Petrochemical, Xinyu Petrochemical, Yanshan Petrochemical, Yuhuang Chemical, Luhua Chemical, etc. Among them, Shanghai Petrochemical and Yanshan Petrochemical are the largest isoprene producers in my country. In recent years, China’s production capacity structure has been gradually upgraded, competition among isoprene companies has intensified, and the market has gradually concentrated on leading companies. In the future, my country’s isoprene market concentration is expected to be further improved.
