On December 11, 2023, Avient, a leading provider of professional and sustainable materials solutions and services, announced the addition of a new grade to its ECCOH™ portfolio of low-smoke, halogen-free formulations. New ECCOH
Formula 5983 is designed to help prevent environmental stress cracking in low and medium voltage armored power cables, protecting power supplies and avoiding costly damage.
Stress cracking can occur when cables are installed under high tensile stresses, such as when they are bent around a radius or installed underground. Metal armor is used within the cable structure to prevent rupture; however, as ambient temperatures fluctuate, the armor and other cable materials expand and contract in varying proportions, further increasing the risk of rupture. Cracks in the cable jacket material can cause costly damage to the insulation and conductors inside the cable, resulting in short circuits and power interruptions.
New ECCOH
The 5983 formula provides high tear strength and elongation at break over a temperature range of -25°C to 90°C, helping to prevent stress cracking in armored cables installed in environments with varying temperatures. New recipe goes beyond with BS
All specifications related to the 7655-6.1:1997 standard, including the most stringent LTS 1 classification, even for complex designs and armored cables.
