● The formula does not contain aromatic amines, which helps to improve the environment and protect human health and life safety.
● As a premium anti-scorch solution with excellent performance and reduced emission levels
● Sustainable solutions that give polyol and polyurethane foam manufacturers a competitive advantage
BASF launches Irgastab® PUR, an innovative high-quality, compliant and high-performance anti-scorch solution 71 does not contain aromatic amines and effectively solves the limitations of traditional anti-scorch additives. With its excellent environmental, health and safety performance, this solution can also meet the increasingly stringent substance classification and sustainable regulatory requirements in the industry.
"Irgastab PUR 71 once again confirms BASF’s commitment to innovation and industry cooperation: to provide our customers with sustainable alternatives to traditional solutions, allowing them to gain an outstanding competitive advantage in a rapidly changing global market,” said BASF Plastic Additives Global Marketing & Development Person in charge Bettina Dr. Sobotka said, “Thanks to our strong track record in additives and our global team of experts dedicated to the development of the automotive and home furnishing industries, we are always pioneering innovation and working hard to develop cutting-edge products that not only improve performance but also promote sustainable development. Technology and Solutions.”
In the production process of polyurethane foam, if the polyol as the main raw material cannot remain stable, the heat generated during the production process will cause the polyurethane foam to discolor, reduce its mechanical properties, and even cause a fire. Although these problems can also be solved by using phenolic antioxidants and aromatic amine stabilizers in traditional anti-scorch additives, these two have some obvious disadvantages, such as strong odor, toxicity issues or high volatility.
BASF’s new anti-scorch additive can greatly reduce oxidative degradation caused by exothermic reactions during polyurethane foam processing. Additionally, Irgastab PUR 71 does not add aromatic amines, which can effectively reduce emissions and reduce potential harm to humans and aquatic life, thereby greatly reducing the volatile organic compounds (VOC) and fogging value (FOG) released in polyurethane foam. Based on these characteristics, the air quality inside the car can be greatly improved, creating a competitive advantage for car manufacturers.
Irgastab PUR 71 can provide targeted application advantages for all walks of life. It complies with the strictest automotive industry specifications to reduce emissions and improve in-car air quality. In the home furnishing industry, it provides polyol and polyurethane foam manufacturers with excellent scorch resistance, preventing thermal degradation during the foaming process. In addition, it does not contain carcinogens, mutagenic substances and toxic substances for reproduction (CMR), which is beneficial to polyol manufacturers in obtaining voluntary environmental certification. For consumer products, it can improve whiteness and prevent color changes caused by gas yellowing and photochromism, thereby improving product quality.
Irgastab PUR 71 is a new member of BASF’s VALERAS® product portfolio. Like other products in the VALERAS® family, it helps BASF leverage innovative solutions from its plastic additives business to improve polymer sustainability throughout the polymer value chain.
