On September 12, the construction acceptance meeting of the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education for chlorofluorine-free polyurethane foam was held in the conference room on the ninth floor of Hongyuan Building, Shandong University of Technology. A 10-member acceptance expert group headed by Professor Xu Chunming, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Wang Yong, deputy director of the Science and Technology Division of the Shandong Provincial Department of Education, Li Yuxia, the principal, and Cui Huanyong, member of the Standing Committee of the School Party Committee and vice president, attended the meeting. More than 30 people attended the acceptance meeting, including relevant persons in charge of the school’s Science and Technology Department and the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, as well as technical backbones of the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education for chlorofluorine-free polyurethane foam materials.
Li Yuxia delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the school and briefly introduced the construction and development of the school and the Engineering Research Center. She pointed out that the school attaches great importance to the construction of the center and has provided various guarantees such as experimental venues, construction funds, and personnel as required, and has achieved a series of results. It has been authorized more than 80 domestic and foreign invention patents, and won the first prize of Shandong Province Technology Invention Award. One Shandong Provincial Special Patent Award each, and the scientific research team represented by Professor Bi Yusui won the honorary title of the Provincial Excellent Entrepreneurship Team. She said that the school will take this acceptance meeting as an opportunity to listen humbly to the opinions and suggestions of experts. Under the guidance of experts, the school will further strengthen the construction of the center and make greater contributions to promoting the development of related industries in the province and even the country.

Professor Bi Yusui, director of the center, made a detailed report on the construction background, construction tasks and completion status, key technological breakthroughs, engineering project construction status, etc., and proposed the current challenges encountered and future mid- and long-term development plans.
Based on the on-site inspection of engineering projects and on-campus on-campus inspections, combined with the construction plan mission statement, acceptance summary report and other materials, the expert group conducted questioning and comprehensive evaluation of the center, and put forward constructive opinions and suggestions. The expert group unanimously believed that the center has accurate positioning, clear construction goals, reasonable layout of research content, distinctive features, and significant results transformation and talent training effects. It has fully completed the construction tasks and achieved the expected goals, and agreed to pass the acceptance review.
In 2019, Shandong University of Technology’s “CFC-free Polyurethane Foam Engineering Research Center” was approved by the Ministry of Education for the construction of an engineering research center, becoming the school’s first approved engineering research center by the Ministry of Education. In the next step, the center will continue to focus on the core technology of chlorofluorine-free polyurethane chemical foaming agents in accordance with the opinions of the expert group, further strengthen the construction of the talent team, accelerate the application and promotion of chlorofluorine-free polyurethane chemical foaming agents, and strive to become the world’s leading new polyurethane Material technology research and development and achievement transformation platform.
