What are the properties and uses of linoleic acid? Introduction to linoleic acid

[Alias]Octadeca-9,12-diene, cis-octadeca-9,12-diene Acid, dense acid

[Molecular Formula]C18H32O2

[Structural Formula]CH3(CH2)4CH=CHCH2CH=CH(CH2)7COOH

亚 Oleic acid

[Properties] Linoleic acid is an unsaturated higher aliphatic diene acid. The pure product is a colorless liquid and an industrial product. It is light yellow with a relative density of 0.9025 (20℃), a melting point of -5℃, a boiling point of 129℃ (2.67Pa), 224℃ (1.333kPa), 228℃ (1.866kPa), 230℃ (2.133kPa), and a refractive index of 1.4699 (20 ℃). The iodine value is 181.1 and the acid value is 200. Insoluble in water, easily soluble in ether, petroleum ether, soluble in anhydrous ethanol, chloroform and benzene, and miscible with dimethylformamide, oil solvents, etc. It is easy to oxidize and polymerize when placed in the air. When treated with nitrogen oxides, it is converted into translinoleic acid, and is converted into stearic acid by catalytic hydrogenation. Easy to oxidize, antioxidant (tert-butyl-hydroxyanisole) needs to be added during storage. Linoleic acid exists in the form of glycerides in many animal and vegetable oils and fats. Safflower oil contains about 75%, flax oil contains about 45%, corn oil contains about 40%, and animal fat contains about 2%-4%.

[Use] It is an important raw material for the manufacture of paints and inks. It is also used in the production of polyester, polyamide and polyurea, etc. Used to manufacture emulsifiers, driers and other products. Unsaturated fatty alcohols made from refined linoleic acid through methanol esterification and hydrogenation can be used as raw materials for various surfactants, detergents, shampoos and other cosmetics. Linoleic acid has the effect of reducing cholesterol and blood lipids in human blood, and can be used to manufacture drugs for the treatment of hyperlipidemia, high cholesterol, and arteriosclerosis. Linoleic acid is an essential fatty acid in human and animal nutrition and a precursor for the synthesis of prostaglandins. Its deficiency can cause symptoms such as dysplasia and rough skin.

[Brief preparation method]The mixed fatty acids obtained by saponification and acidification of vegetable oils can be frozen, separated and refined to obtain the finished product linoleic acid . It can also be made by using by-products such as oily stock or soap stock remaining from soybean oil refining as raw materials, which can be obtained by saponification, salting out, acidification, water washing, freezing separation and distillation.

[Safety and Protection]This product is non-toxic. Packed in aluminum drums or stainless steel drums, net weight 200kg per drum. Store and transport according to general chemical regulations, store in a cool and ventilated place, away from fire sources.
