Solubility / thinnability:
The product is compatible with the following solvents: ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, 1-methoxypropylacetate-2, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, cyclohexanone, toluene, xylene, solvent naphtha 100 and mixtures thereof.
Aliphatic hydrocarbons are unsuitable as solvents.
Desmodur XP 2580 should not be thinned to below a solids content of 40% by weight. Prolonged storage of a solution with lower binder content may result in turbidity and sedimentation. Storage stability of the thinned product should be tested in each case.
Compatibility:
Desmodur XP 2580 can be blended with most Desmodur grades, such as: Desmodur® N 75, N 100, N 3200, N 3300, N 3390, N 3400, N 3600, Desmodur N 3900, Z 4470, HL and IL. Compatibility is generally good with hydroxyfunctional polyesters and polyethers (Desmophen® grades) as well as hydroxy acrylates.
Properties / Applications :
As a particularly low-viscosity polyisocyanate, Desmodur XP 2580 is
particularly well suited for the formulation of high-solids coatings for general industrial coating, automotive refinishing, transportation and plastics coating applications.
As with any product, use of Desmodur XP 2580 in a given application must be tested (including but not limited to field testing) in advance by the user to determine suitability.
Handling information:
This product contains reactive HDI polyisocyanate/prepolymer and/or
monomeric HDI and should only be handled using appropriate protective
measures. Please review this product's Safety Data Sheet for a summary of such protective measures. These products are suitable only for and should only be sold for use by industrial or trade (commercial) professionals. These products are not suitable for Do-It-Yourself applications.
Storage :
Desmodur XP 2580 should be stored in tightly sealed original containers and protected from moisture, heat, and foreign materials. The product is sensitive to moisture. Storage at higher temperatures will result in increase of color and viscosity. Recommended storage temperature is 5º-30ºC.
Storage time:
Desmodur XP 2580 has a shelf life of six months from date of receipt at
customer, provided the material is stored in sealed original containers at the recommended storage temperature.
