At the North American Battery Show from September 12th to 14th, DuPont released a variety of flame retardant solutions for electric vehicles. These include embedding flame-retardant materials into the battery cores, and centrally bonding the battery cores before placing them in the cold channel.
One strategy is to use cells embedded with flame-retardant materials to prevent a defective cell from catching fire and affecting other cells.
Another strategy DuPont is looking into is using adhesives to bond the cells together and arranging cooling channels in the center of the cells. Please refer to the green part in the picture.
