Solubility/Dilution
Desmodur® N100 can be used with esters, ketones and aromatic solvents Such as: methoxypropyl acetate, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, cyclohexanone, toluene, xylene, 100# solvent naphtha and their mixtures for dilution. Generally speaking, it has better compatibility with the above solvents. However, the storage stability of the prepared solution must be tested. Polyurethane grade solvents should be used (less than 0.05% water, free of reactive groups such as hydroxyl or amino groups). Aliphatic hydrocarbons are not suitable as solvents. Do not dilute Desmodur® N100 below 40% solids. Solutions with low binder content may develop turbidity and precipitation after long-term storage.
Compatibility
Desmodur® N100 can generally be used with the following products. Namely: Desmodur® N3200, N3300, N3400, N3600 and Desmodur® Z4470 type aliphatic polyisocyanate; Desmodur® L, HL and IL type aromatic polyisocyanate; Desmophen® 651 and 670 type polyester polyol Desmophen® A type polyacrylic acid Esters; Desmophen® 1380BT-like polyether polyols. However, the compatibility of the prepared solutions must be tested. Properties/Applications Desmodur® N100 is primarily used as a curing agent for lightfast two-component polyurethane coatings with high chemical and weather resistance, excellent gloss retention and mechanical properties. Preferred coreactants are polyacrylates and polyester polyols. Coating systems formulated with Desmodur® N100 are suitable for self-drying or baking, for automotive paints and industrial coatings, such as wood, furniture, plastics and Corrosion protection. StoreDesmodur® N100 Sensitive to moisture and should therefore be stored in tightly closed containers. Stored at 5-25°C in the original container, this product has a shelf life of at least 6 months.
